HEPAGEN Solution for Injection is a colorless clear solution containing phenoksi-2-metile-2-propionic acid (sodium salt), which is coleretic. However activity mechanism of phenoksi-2-metile-2-propionic acid is not much known, it can be stated that this preparation stimulates the cholesterol metabolism, stimulating the secretion of billuribine and bile as other coleretic agents such as cyclooxylic acis and clanbutin.
HEPAGEN has specific effects on liver. It assists digestive tract work more effectively via increasing bile and pepsin secretion. Phenoksi-2-metile-2-propionic acid has a good distribution within the organism; also, the tissue and plasma concentrations always coincide parallel. Plasma concentrations are high during first 6 hour, after that these high levels begin to decrease. In ruminants, it quickly reaches to the peak value (30-45 minutes). It is undetectable in the organic secretions, even reabsorbed in very small quantities. No evidence regarding the accumulation in the tissues. The elimination phase is also fast (Half time: 90-130 min). The active metabolite disappears faster in the bile than in the urine. The active metabolite is eliminated via bile in 8-24 hours and via urine after 24 hours. .
HEPAGEN is a coleretic and nontoxic preparation, which can be administrated via intra peritoneal or intravenous routes. HEPAGEN is indicated for prophylaxis and treatment of all diseases associated with insufficiency of liver. It is cologog, coleretic, analgesics and antispasmolytic of bile ducts. .
USAGE AND DOSING
Unless otherwise recommended under the prescription of a veterinarian, pharmacologic dose of phenoxi-2-metile-2-propiyonic acid, 10 mg/kg, can be administered with dosages indicated below:
Up to 300 kg b.w.: 30 ml
Up to 500 kg b.w.: 40 ml
Over 500 kg b.w: 50 ml
Calf, peer, ship, and goat: 5-15 ml
Lambs: 1 ml/10 kg b.w.
Dogs: 1 ml/10 kg b.w.
